Job Description
We are seeking reliable and vigilant individuals to join our team as Waking Watch / Fire Marshals supporting residential buildings. This is a critical fire safety role focused on early detection, resident safety, and maintaining a continuous watch presence.
Comprehensive fire safety training will be provided, so previous formal qualifications are not essential — the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are what matter most.
Role Requirements
- Conduct regular, systematic patrols of communal areas, stairwells, corridors, and external perimeters in accordance with the building’s waking watch / fire safety strategy.
- Remain highly alert for signs of fire, smoke, unusual odours, or other hazards at all times during your shift.
- Raise the alarm immediately and initiate evacuation procedures if a fire or serious incident is detected.
- Assist residents (including vulnerable residents) during evacuations or emergencies, providing clear direction and support.
- Monitor fire detection systems, alarm panels, and any temporary fire safety measures in place.
- Complete detailed patrol logs, incident reports, and handover notes accurately and on time.
- Maintain a visible, professional, and reassuring presence for residents and visitors.
- Report any fire safety defects, blocked escape routes, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Work closely with the on-site management team, fire & rescue services, and other emergency responders when required.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, discretion, and resident confidentiality at all times.
